DESCRIPTION:About: \nThree benches\, three men\, a squabble about the best seat\, each man claims his right\, and of course\, there is not enough room for everyone. \nThe play takes a light-hearted look at issues of space\, ownership and territory that inevitably leads to questions of identity and belonging. \nThe Hindi drama is set in a park with three benches that become a point of contention between three men. All three want the best spot and try to prove why they deserve it. Each one’s claim is superior to the others’. DESCRIPTION:The Studio Theatre Festival is a three-day long festival with three handpicked\, unique plays performing at the Bewajah Café Studio Theatre. All the plays will compete to win the hearts of the audience and the jury and present us some amazing performances back to back for three days. \nOur final plays for festival are:\n1. Samwadiya (from Delhi) \n[6:30 PM\, 7th September] \n \nThe play talks about a time when the postal services are on the run and the job of Samwadiya (the messenger) is of no use. But to a matter of surprise\, he has been called again by a lady who hails from a privilege family but is forced to live in scraps. The message is delivered by Hargovind who narrates each word with exact emotion in which the information is meant to be delivered. The story questions the importance of one man agaisnt the techological leap of the society. \nWriter: Fanishwar Nath Renu \nDirector: Shyam Kumar Sahani \n  \n  \n\n\n  \n2. Dayashanker Ki Diary (from Lucknow) \n[6:30 PM\, 8th September] \n \nA story of a simple man who travels from his hometown to Mumbai in effort to become an actor. Yet\, despite all his efforts\, every day he faces indifference and exploitation. DESCRIPTION:Another year passed and here we are. Last year we did some things of which\, some had made us most proud. We’re bringing you two of our best and hit shows accompanied with a little surprise announcement. Bewajah is coming up with some new plans and ideas for those who wish to join us in this narrative bringing forward a change and development in the fields of art. \nOn our list\, we have an extended version of the play Othello Syndrome. Based on a script by Rohit Verma\, this production has seen six successful performances\, and now we are adding a little bit more to the narrative\, keeping the storyline and the elements of comedy intact in this tale of jealousy\, drama\, and confusion. \nDate: 17th March. \nTime: 7 PM \nVenue: Bhartendu Natya Academy\, Gomti Nagar. \nThe second one is a personal favourite of the team (though\, a good parent isn’t supposed to discriminate\, but no one is perfect). The adaptation of the story Kavve Aur Kaala Paani by Nirmal Verma. An hour-long tale of separation and resolution\, previously presented under the drama series Stories of Separation. DESCRIPTION:The idea of Open Up is to insert a lingering interest in a wider perspective and a hunger for beauty and understanding\, using theatre as a tool.\nTo learn\, explore and grow through intimacy with theatre. We have also organised various other workshops with kids in different areas of the Lucknow leading to a stage production. These young talents can do wonder once they are allowed to explore.\nThis time we have handpicked a number of students from Lucknow with the reference from Tabassum Rahman\, a schoolteacher at the Amiruddaula Islamia College\, and a patron of Bewajah for a long time. These young kids come from a little less privileged background and are not as fortunate as many of us when it comes to portraying our talents in the right place.\nThe purpose of this workshop is to bring out the talent of these kids and expose them out to the world where they will have an experience of a lifetime. We want the kids to have a good time on the stage while performing. \nOur sole purpose is to provide these talented hearts with a platform where they can and will do wonders. \nFor this noble cause\, we require a little support from your end. \nYou\, our dearest audience and members\, the patrons of Bewajah.
