A deft adaptation of the play by SareshwarDayal Saxena, on the struggles of life, the reality of the democracy and the downfall of values. How easily we become the pawn of the strong ones in the power and feel broken in the hands of the powerful. The direction and design of Piyush Verma added a completely different aura to the play, scratching out a completely different aspect of the feeling of powerlessness of a common man.
Three men on a wintery night, are sitting under a large tree in hope of some warmth. They run into a policeman and begs him to take them to jail where they will find warmth and food. They are hungry and cold and are ready to do anything for food and shelter. The new design of the play, sharpened with music and rhythm of body movements and words, the play is not just a sequence of scenes on a stage, but an impact on the hollow ideals of life that are taught with the ideas to cover up the inadequacy of the people in power.
The play was well received and praised. The actors on stage brought life to the pain and terror of every person in India. They gave life to the people’s fears and in the most iconic way, the play interacts with the anguish of living below the poverty line.
