In the month of August Bewajah decided to go a little more unconventional with the Dastan Alice Ki, a Dastangoi presentation based on the works of Lewis Carroll. Both of his books, Alice in Wonderland were adapted into an energetic performance of one hour, as usual, on the dais, telling the story of funny, little Alice and her tales of adventure, curiosity and understanding.
Bewajah spent the entire month of August celebrating the 151 years of Alice in Wonderland, discussing the book and its details on several platforms; conducting a small storytelling session for
children at Sanatkada Ka Adda with our amazing blogger and a budding storyteller Aditi Yadav; holding a small tea party at our very own Bewajah Café, in the company of friends from this world and the Wonderland. We shared thoughts and ideas from the books and tried to understand them with a newer perspective.
The Dastangoi was the last instalment in this series of events. The stage became the wonderland the through the words of the remarkable dastangos, we became Alice, travelling through this new Wonderland that had never sounded so real in our own language. It was a different experience to hear new names for our favourite characters. They talked and annoyed Alice, played games and made the journey even more interesting.
